The Full Story

Boat Projects

Nick has a couple of last minute projects to complete before their shakedown trip to the Dry Tortugas. The first thing he has to get done is re-bedding the hatch above the V-birth. This task usually takes about 4 hours to complete.

Tourist for a day – Disney World Video

Next, they go on a trip to Magical Disney World. Hollywood Studios to be exact. Nick has a 4-day pass to use up before they start cruising. Kelly is a Disney fanatic so she has an annual pass and can go anytime! Nick and Kelly decide to “ham” it up and play tourist for the day.

Giftland

They stop at the ultimate gift shop in Orlando, “Gift Land!” It does not disappoint. Every tacky tourist item you could ever want is in this place. Kelly finds Nick a beautifully horrible fanny pack along with a classic tourist Mickey shirt. They are set! Upon arriving at the park, Nick changes into his tourist gear, and off they go to explore the park. As always, the park is crowded and full of strollers. Nick and Kelly decide to make the best of it. They talk to a few random Disney guests about their plans to sail the world. They met some pretty cool people and a few “crazy” ones as well.

Epcot – Disney world video

As the day progresses, Nick and Kelly head over to Epcot to check out the countries and buy a snack and a beer. Epcot proves to be even more crowded! But in Nick and Kelly fashion, they still had the best time. They end their Disney day at Hollywood Studios riding a few classic rides, “Rockin Rollercoaster” and “The Tower of Terror.” Awesome!

I Gotta Pee!

You’ll also see Kelly has a teeny tiny bladder and has to find a bathroom every 5 minutes it seems. Nick is used to this and just “shakes his head…”

Adventures of King Arthur – “Bad to the Bone”

In the middle of all this Disney madness, “The Adventures of King Arthur” comes on. Is this episode, Arthur takes on a meat bone. This bone is fit for a King! His servant tries to take the bone from him, but Arthur uses that to his advantage and kindly accepts the “help.” Arthur hides from his bone; he does this from time to time. Only Arthur knows why he does this, but one would guess he is trying to “trick” his food into becoming more tender.

Satori in Chains

As final preparations are underway, Nick decides to get a new anchor chain for the trip. His friend Jeff gets him and a few others on the dock a good deal. They go to pick up the Canadian made anchor chain and install it. It’s beautiful and shiny, but we all know that will only last until it goes into the water.

Shakedown Cast Off

Lastly, Nick and Kelly cast off for their trip. The first stop is Cabbage Key near Boca Grand. This is about 12 hours away. Not bad! Except…Kelly gets seasick and is like that for a good 5-6 hours. It was not a pleasant morning.

The next episode will pick up where they left off. Thanks for watching everyone!

Intro (Disney World Video)

Little motion ease and essential oil. We’ve got some pressure point wristbands and also Dramamine. (Disney World Video)

Nick re-bedding the hatch (Disney World Video)

Today I’m re-doing this hatch. Starting to leak lately pretty bad so I’m going to take it off clean it off and reseal it. You can see how nasty it gets up in the corners. No idea the last time these things have been resealed. It’s been years I’m sure. it’s an old boat. So I’m really big on tape when it comes to doing any kind of caulk or silicone, sealant. It’s just so much easier for a nice clean, professional look. Also if you don’t tape, trying to clean that up and not make it look like a mess is a headache. here’s my final product. This is boat life seal. Then I clean it up just using my fingers. All that excess sealant in the screw holes will be removed after. (Disney World Video)

Nick and Kelly go to Disney World (Disney World Video)

A couple of weeks ago my cousin was in town. I ended up getting like a four-day pass. We have to burn this pass before we leave in a few months. Kelly has as an Annual Pass. She’s Disney freak fanatic. We need a way to carry the camera. We’re not really prepared for this so we’ve come here to gift world. It’s exciting, here we go! (Disney World Video)

Nick and Kelly shopping for Disney Gear (Disney World Video)

Oh my god, they have everything Disney. Everything you could possibly imagine. Jackpot! Beautiful! That’s nice. It’s a nice color camouflage. Get that one it matches your speedo. Yes, let’s see if the camera fits. What you got there Baby? If we’re gonna do this, we got to do it right. Yeah oh my god Oh my god I love it yeah. Ring it up! (Disney World Video)

Nick and Kelly in the car, on the way to Disney World (Disney World Video)

This is my annual pass that I’ve had for like eight years straight. I get to go whenever I want to any park. This is the key to the world. BAM! We are going to Disney Hollywood Studios. This is my favorite Park. It has the two best rides. The rock n roller coaster starring Aerosmith. Also, the Tower of Terror. You sit down, and it drops you. It’s all about the movies. There’s a lot of Star Wars stuff. Movie ride, it has a show, like this whole skit. I’ve seen it a hundred times. It has really old movies. Anything Disney cheesy I love. You’re a nerd. Huge nerd! (Disney World)

Nick and Kelly going inside the park (Disney World Video)

Sorry guys, yours is not working. No., my god.

The Adventures of King Arthur (Disney World Video)

Look at King Arthur as he feasts on a meal made for a king. King Arthur’s fed only the finest prime rib bone. King Arthur doesn’t eat just anything. he carefully inspects this bone by licking every inch. It may look as though King Arthur doesn’t know what he’s doing, as though this is his first bone ever. Quite the contrary. This is his strategy. He only pretends he hasn’t eaten a bone before. King Arthur is very protective of his Food.

Watch as his servant attempts to take his bone away. King Arthur turns it around as though the servant is actually helping him. Hmm. Very clever. Every so often King Arthur hides from his food. This way the food doesn’t know what to expect. Watch as the King sneaks back to his bone as though he doesn’t even want it. Keeping the bone off guard, allowing it to be more tender perhaps? Hmm, only King Arthur knows. (Disney World Video)

Nick and Kelly inside the Park (Disney World Video)

What are you doing here today? Well, what brings… Wait you got to turn around talk. We’re leaving on a sailing trip. You have to stop at Wilmington North Carolina. We live there. Awesome place. They film all sorts of things there. All kinds of movies. Then you have a place for us to stay? Okay, this is Kelly. and you’re from? Bonita Springs, can I stay in your extra bedroom? Oh, that’s weird, where are you going really? We’re going to ride, is there anything you have to do before that? And the first thing I gotta do! I gotta pee! (Disney World Video)

Nick picked up the anchor chain (Disney World Video)

Today I’m going with Breton and Jeff to pick up some new anchor chain. I have 200 feet of chain with 100 feet of Road. Jeff here at the dock, he is a friend of mine. He was able to hook us up. He had them splice in a nice anchor splice. So it will go through the windlass. We’re going to go pick it up right now. Oh yeah! I’m ready! Did you workout? So what are we picking up? 600 feet of anchor chain. five-sixteenths. American made? It’s Canadian. Man, just for that I’m gonna drink a case of Labatt’s. (Disney World Video)

Nick at the dock with the new chain (Disney World Video)

Shiny! 200 feet anchor chain, beat by one piece of plastic! I’ll show you what this looks like. It’s a little musty, cramped, dark anchor Locker. There is an end down there. Untie that, bring your new one end tied up. I’ll load it up. you okay? That’s enough. Oh yeah! That’s nice! Just like that! Right now I would just take a piece of line either from there or from right here and tie it to your cleat while you’re sailing. In case that happens to be loose and your sailing on rough seas, you know ten-foot waves, and the anchor comes off. Wait a minute. What did Jeff just say? (Disney World Video)

Departure to the Dry Tortugas (Disney World Video)

Good morning! What time is it? 5:36 am. It’s early. Cast off day. Time to get going. Kelly’s not feeling so good. Nausea, Seasickness, this is going to be a long day. (Disney World Video)
