Ever wonder how they create those amazing background stories on the network competition shows? How do they know which contestants are going to do well? The answer is… they don’t! They film the background stories after the competition and simply set it up to look like it was filmed beforehand.
This was the case when a local Tampa Bay Boat Charter company was asked to host the NBC competition show when they set out to create a backstory segment on the popular American Ninja Warrior contestant, Charity Leblanc, also known as the Mermaid Ninja.
Most of the footage was shot at the dock at the Harborage Marina in St. Petersburg, FL. Captain Nick of St. Pete Sailing Charters then sailed the 44′ sailing yacht named Satori out into Tampa Bay for a beautiful photoshoot onboard the sailboat where they also got some amazing drone footage of the best sailing area in St. Pete/Clearwater.
This backstory segment aired on Season 13, Ep. 3 of American Ninja Warrior on NBC.
